History

The history of Cloud Computing can go back to the 1960s. Here is when corporations began to use an earlier version of the cloud so multiple users can have access to information. In the 1990s, shared web hosting became popular. Starting in 1999 with the creation of Salesforce.com, the cloud as we know it began to take form.  This was followed by Amazon Web Services in 2002, Elastic Computer Cloud in 2006, and finally with Google Apps in 2009. With "rapid integration of cloud computing into everyday routines, "there has been an increasing interest in cloud computing for schools (NMC, 2014, p. 36). Expect to see cloud evolving as more and more schools begin to integrate this technology in their daily routines. Through the cloud, collaboration, storage, and file sharing is saved instantly and provides a single place to access information.

Arif Mohamed outlines the modern cloud history in this link.
